Christmas at the Scotia Inn1121 viewsAccording to a Palco historical timeline, in 1903 the Mowatoc Hotel was built on the same property as the inn. The hotel had 135 rooms and served as a residence for mill workers as well as an inn for stagecoach travelers between Ukiah and Eureka. Palco interim spokesperson Kathy Wigginton said that the Mowatoc Hotel burned down and was rebuilt in 1923, and renamed the Scotia Inn.

Hansen Furniture and the Lane House1032 viewsBuilt as the Nowland House in 1892, the Lane House also included the Imperial Hotel. Located on the south side of Main Street between 9th and 10th Streets. H.A. Hansen's Furniture Emporium occupied the right side of the building until they moved into the meeting hall across the street (now known as Low's Furniture, changed hands in 1953). Hansen's wife, Bertie McNulty, was the postmaster of Fortuna for many years. This building still stands today with apartments upstairs and businesses on the ground floor.
