River Reflections1249 viewsThis is fairly close to the mouth of the Eel, on the left horizon you can see the dunes separating the river from the Pacific Ocean. Before the Table Bluff road was built this was a busy shipping channel for local goods and a thriving sardine industry.
Fernbridge During High Water 11334 viewsVisitors to the area often wonder why there are 20-foot-high levees along the river banks. The Eel can go from shin deep to 25 feet high in a matter of days.

Fernbridge During High Water 21862 viewsConstructed in 1911, Fernbridge was an engineering marvel of its day, the world's longest concrete arch span ever built to that date (and one of only two still in use in the world). It is also the only bridge on the Eel that has withstood everything that the river has been able to throw against it.
