Quiet Contemplation1743 viewsIt's not as quiet and peaceful as it looks. This is at a rest area a couple of hundred yards south of False Klamath Cove where, according to Yurok legend, the Klamath River once emptied into the sea. Highway 101 is right at your back and the Jake brake explosions from the trucks coming down the Wilson Creek grade bounce off the hills, drowning out the sound of the surf. Nevertheless, it's a great place to unwind for a few minutes before you continue on with your journey. Google map.

What an Awesome Place to Live!1902 viewsMile marker 32.2 on Highway 299, Trinity County. That orange dot in the right center of the picture? That's a warning sign, CalTrans was doing shoulder cleanup in the area.
Some day we'll have a nice picture of this same area after a major winter storm when the Trinity River is boiling.

Scotia/Rio Dell area from Monument Road2193 viewsThis is part of a panorama which you can find here. Scotia is on the right side of the bridge, Rio Dell on its left. We were evaluating a new camera and didn't yet have the skylight filter to eliminate that blue haze.
